Ten years ago the Donnelly company was launched with one tire, the PDX. It has been a trusted race-worthy tire, and for more than a decade has remained unchanged, until now. With cowbell-clanging season here, Donnelly shows their commitment to cyclocross is unwavering with the release of the all-new PDX WC tubeless ready clincher.

Some might ask, why mess with a good thing? It’s no secret Donnelly’s current PDX tubeless ready tire measures wider than the UCI limit of 33mm and is therefore rarely used by top-level racers. Furthermore, the reliability of tubeless tires staying on when used at very low tire pressures was limited at best. With the improvements in tubeless tire and rim technology, Donnelly knew it was time to push the envelope. The company is a firm believer tubeless technology is the way of the future for even the best cyclocross racers in the world. “Tubulars ride amazingly well and we will continue to produce ours,” said Donnelly product manager James Sullivan. “However, it’s old technology that has not changed in decades. Tubeless tires are more accessible for all riders and now we have ones that perform just as well. Perhaps even better.”

The all-new PDX WC is produced in Europe with the finest materials and the utmost attention to detail. It is made with the highest quality nylon casing available, features 240 TPI construction and weighs just 350 grams. You will not find a better tubeless cyclocross tire anywhere.

The original PDX, which will still be available, was the first tire Donnelly brought to cyclocross racing scene back in 2007. “The idea of the PDX came from my passion for cyclocross and to provide racers with a superior mud tire,” said company founder Donn Kellogg. “It’s hard to believe this tire has been in use for more than a decade with out needing a change. I could not be more excited about this enhancement.”

Jamey Driscoll (Mavic-DNA Cycling) raced the PDX WC at the Jingle Cross UCI World Cup weekend.

The PDX WC tubeless ready clincher is available in a 700 x 33 tubeless ready tan wall version with a black version to follow, and will retail for $80. Donnelly will release an LAS and MXP version later this season.
