When did you move to the United States? My family and I moved to Boulder from Germany when I was 11 years old.
Where do you work? I work at my family's company called Cuore. We make custom and in-line cycling apparel. The U.S. division of Cuore has been here for five years, but the company has been around for long time in Europe. A family friend started it in Switzerland and 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the company.
What is your role at Cuore? I am a product specialist. I work with my uncle Juergen Sprich, who is the head of product development. I learn a lot form him and help with things like fabric sourcing and product testing. He is based in Germany, but is actually working in Boulder for the year.
Are you racing cyclocross this fall? I have no serious plans, but I may jump in to a race or two depending on my schedule and what else is going on.
You won the Old Man Winter Rally in February against a strong field. How do you stay fit these days? I still ride a lot so I stay in pretty good shape. I ride my bike to work every day. In fact I have ridden to work every day for the past year and a half. I haven't missed a day. It doesn't matter the weather... rain or snow...I ride.
Do you ride home, too? Yep. Sometimes I ride at lunch time, too. Triple chamois days!
I guess it's good you work for a cycling apparel company?! Yes! I get to test a lot of new products, that's for sure.
What gravel races are you planning on doing? Belgian Waffle Ride, Dirty Kanza. Steamboat Gravel and hopefully Ted King's event, Rooted Gravel in Vermont.
Why are you racing gravel? I don't view these events as races as much as I see them as long, fun and challenging rides. I love going out for long rides as well as the preparation and mental challenge that goes along with it so these events really appeal to me.
